FIELD STUDY 3- Technology in the Learning Environment
A library is "a collection of useful material for common use", like dictionaries, encyclopedias, maps and a large of number of books which serves as reference on various topics. Libraries often provide a place of SILENCE for studying, learners who are fond of reading will agree with the fact that a library is perhaps the most peaceful place on earth!
The University Library, located at the 4th floor at the Administration Building, covering one main library and one periodical section located at the rooftop of the building, was developed to aid in teaching, research and extension works. The school library maintains a collection of books though not complete and limited could still provide information about various subjects and thus help in the process of education.
The school media center is central to the instructional program. Its main purpose is to provide service to the faculty, students, and administration in accessing information, developing research strategies and in the utilization of media. The media center program strengthens and improves the instruction in the school by developing in students lifelong learning, it houses and circulates audiovisual materials and equipment for instructional purposes.
Schools are compelled to provide students with technology competency skills that will allow them to support their learning through online sources and succeed in an ever-increasing technological workplace. In order for students to use technology as a tool to improve learning, they must have ready access to technology and the competency to use this technology effectively, unfortunately, sufficient computer equipment is not always available in our schools, funding to support computer use in classrooms is often difficult to obtain.
Our school has a range of purpose-built computer rooms and lecture facilities which are all fitted with modern audio-visual equipment, but which are also limited.
A bulletin board is also called pin board is a place where people can leave public messages like announce events or provide information, bulletin boards are often made of a material such as cork to facilitate addition and removal of messages for other people to read and see, bulletin boards are particularly prevalent at our UNIVERSITY, and here are some pictures taken for some examples.
Teaching methods can best be defined as the types of principles and methods used for instruction, there are many types of teaching methods, depending on what information or skill the teacher is trying to convey, class participation, demonstration, recitation, and memorization are some of the teaching methods being used.
When a teacher is deciding on their method, they need to be flexible and willing to adjust their style according to their students, student success in the classroom is largely based on effective teaching methods, these are materials that are used to aid in the transference of information from one to another, for example, a teacher may use instructional materials to aid in the learning of subject matter for a class, and here are some pictures taken during our observation from different classes on different levels.
